One of the things I liked about the Wii was the speaker in the controller. It’s come to my attention that the latest sony controller has it too.

Question: How often is it used? Does PUBG and or H1Z1 implement it? What about the touchscreen? Do these games use it?

@Gamerno6666: That’s upsetting. It seems like a missed opportunity for many uses. Something like reloading, or a grunt after being shot would be cool uses of the speaker.

ALL games use it, you can re-route what sounds go where, tv, headset or controller speaker.

The mordor games, most Sony exclusive games, and rockstar games utilize the speaker. I love it and wish it was implemented more. It should be standard because it adds another layer to the game. Usually anything with cell phone chatter comes through the speaker. The touch pad usually just adds another button but when playing movies it's great because you just swipe left or right to automatically fast forward or rewind 15 seconds. I never have an issue anymore with rewinding too far or too fast when using the touch pad.

@rmiller365: I played RDR2 nonstop for 2 month and never heard a single sound coming out of the controller.

I kind of forgot about it, to be honest. I'm sure it's popped up in games I've played, but not many. I want to say some of the first games I played on the PS4 like Infamous Second Son and Killzone: Shadow Fall had it.

Many games uses it but I am not sure, one of the first thing I do when I play a new game is go to settings and turn off the speaker.

The speaker seems to be used pretty often. The touchpad - rarely. And I find that frustrating. I think it's actually a really nice feature on the controller. If nothing else, when you can type using it that's a god-send. But few programs allow you to use it as a computer touchpad - when they should.
