I just finished Black Omen, and wow, that was tough. I'm not sure I was supposed to do it that soon. I think I went in at around level 35. What level should you ideally be for Black Omen?

I don't remember what level I was but I'd recommend doing the optional sidequests first, they are fun anyway. If do them your level/equipment should be good enough. The one involving Lucca and her mom/dad you might want to look up because there is a moment where you can mess it up permanently.
^Very slight spoiler as I just mentioned what a side quest concerns but didn't describe any plot.
I hated turn based games back in the day so I never played chrono trigger. It wasn't until finaly fantasy 7 that my opinon changed on the genre. I have chrono trigger on the snes but haven't had a chance to play much of it. It's at the top of my list to play when I get my game room set up. I've purchased a lot of old snes rpgs that I never played. I'm looking forward to playing them for the first time and experiencing a peice of the 16 bit erae that I missed out on.
Chrono Trigger doesn't require any hardcore grinding, so you should be alright for any battle. Make sure to savor the ride, because it really is one of the best games ever.
Something that baffles me is when people say they struggled with the game. I remember it being really easy. I think I died on one boss in the whole game.
That being said, it's pretty great. Definitely do side quests.
@Allicrombie: What is so great about this game?? Coolyfett is currently playing it, but he is trying to figure out what is so great about it? He just located the cave chick with the reptile enemies, but he is not quite getting the amazing appeal the game has.
@Coolyfett: Opinions vary, but its generally thought of as one of the high points in the golden era of 16 bit role playing gaming goodness. You can cite its cast of likable characters, its narrative, which is the same good vs evil that is a staple of most games, but Trigger at least manages to mix it up a bit with time traveling, and one of the bigger draws is the fact that events between the past, present and future are meaningful, in the way that performing an action or altering the landscape in one time has an effect on the other two time frames, something that was never seen in a game up to that point. Plus the soundtrack is rather nice.
Do the side quests first. I keep hearing about how people find the game tough, but I remember my first time through only dying once. It's not a terribly challenging game, but it's great.
@Coolyfett: Like most RPG's it does start off a bit slow. Also if you find that you can't see the appeal, there's nothing wrong with that! We all have different likes and dislikes when it comes to games!
Just take this seriously .. Enjoy the Game ^o^ ~
This is one of the greatest RPG's that made me into turn base games!
I'm sure you will feel the game and the concept of the plot :3
People keep saying that!!!! Coolyfett is going to spend some time on this weekend NO PS3 games at all. If anyone wants to add Coolyfett on PSN or NN just add him and tell him how much he sucks for not loving Chrono Trigger yet. He would love to meet other players playing this game for pointers.
