I'm now so glad I never bothered to make an EGS account to claim those free games.

Will this finally confirm a Bloodborne remake by Bluepoint, sequel, and port to PC? So far Jensen's Prophecy has not been completely fulfilled, we don't have the Demon's Souls PC port.

Someone scour the leaks for clues.

Yup, in an alternate universe where Sony has enough sense to get easy money but not in this one.

@pc_rocks: Hopefully the emulators hurry up. Sony is holding this game hostage and crushing dreams.

@girlusocrazy: I'd love to know why there's been such a slow rollout of UE5 games and whether that'll be addressed in any potential info dump.

I don't wanna rain on your parade and hopes, but Sony isn't interested in BB due to the sales being poor and they think by doing something with the IP will result in another failure.

I love BB, there's no denying that, but I long given up on the Remake and PC port. Lies of P is as close as we'll ever gonna get.

Because UE5 is pretty much UE4, at least in terms of graphics apart from Nanite and Lumen; both are resource hogs. Also, I'm not a game dev or technical artist but if I'm not wrong, properly utilizing Nanite means changing the asset/production pipelines. Production budgets are already as high as they are, don't think they have the capacity to do those changes.

You want it cuz if they do have a remake, it will be on pc, and let me tell you, you don't deserve that game, so they better never make it.

We know Bloodborne sold about 7.5 million copies thanks to the insomniac leak. Wouldn't call that poor sales not everything going to sell 20 million units.

@pc_rocks: UE5 is supposed to make development easier not needing to make redundant assets for short, medium and long renderings by just using a single asset. Still, given the highlights of the engine updates last year, I get the feeling the engine's nanite support works for only certain types of assets and not others. Some part of me suspects developer apprehension to move to UE5 is less about the burden of overhauling their game designs, and possibly out of caution whether Epic will improve the UE5 engine to where they need it to be so they can get their planned games published on schedule.

I'd be curious too whether Epic has a resource balancing issue, like perhaps they have the resources to get UE5 improved faster for developers to use, but then maybe they make so much money on Fortnite that it practically creates an all hands on deck situation that puts UE5 improvements on the back burner so they can churn out more content and updates for Fortnite.

@locus-solus: Where are these leaks that state it sold 7 million copies?

Sony's last official update was 2 million.

@lundy86_4: Most of them sold would have been on the cheap as Sony announced just 2 million well after release from memory.

Sony games that sold 20 million plus units also got discounted.

@locus-solus: I get that, but ones like God of War, Sdierman sell 5 million in a week and thus Sony makes the most profit. BB took years to get to that figure and the majority of copies would have been sold at a discounted rate, hence why they probably don't want to revisit the game.

Do they count people who downloaded games on PSN+ as “sales”?

I only get on Epic to claim free games... doesn't really matter to me.. I mean it sucks, and I know Epic has been struggling, but at the same time this might be the deciding factor to partner with a console manufacturer, so I say let's see if we can spin some positive out of this and get the inevitable ball rolling. Who's going to be first MS or SONY? If one inks a deal or starts their own launcher the other will be right behind them.

@Archangel3371: That's a great question. And I wouldn't put it past Sony to do that, just as I wouldn't put it past MS to count me as a gamepass subscriber when they changed gold to "gamepass core"

I believe someone confirmed that they do because games on PS+ register as sales when accessed.

@Macutchi: It is. But there's the hope of emulation at least.

Anyway if Sony has to spend less on making games, and has to dig into the back catalog to introduce new players to older games so they can still see return on those, then the possibility of a BB remake/HD version is higher.

Production budgets are already as high as they are, don't think they have the capacity to do those changes.

Epic provided a pretty efficient pipeline for transferring UE4 projects to UE5, but the farther a big project gets into development, the more teams have done little tweaks here and there and have created more bespoke features that make that transfer significantly more complicated, especially if teams have changed backend code in the engine (which is possible if you convert a UE projects to C++).

UE5.3 is the first version of the engine that I would consider even remotely stable, and what I think is the main culprit of not seeing more UE5 releases right now is that teams with in-progress games aren't seeing the benefit of spending the time converting their UE4 projects to UE5. As much as Epic wants to advertise that the transfer is a simple click of a button, it's very much not, unless you've been using UE4 exactly like they expect you to.

I think there will be a lot more UE5 projects a couple years from now.

@Macutchi: I wrote a post about it on this story but it's too long.

I found things like the environment, enemy placement, enemy AI not to be as good, and the hitboxes don't seem great to me.

I like that it runs well on the Steam Deck.

@girlusocrazy: i think that's quite a diplomatic review tbh, i agree with your points, i just think you make them erring more on the kind and forgiving side.

i'm a bit more openly critical of it. it's not that it's terrible, it's ok to play, but it's so vanilla. makes you appreciate bloodborne all the more. it's not just in a different league it's in a different galaxy

@Macutchi:Thanks. I tried to be optimistic because it was the demo, I became more critical after the release. Bloodborne is a masterpiece. Lies of P is a B game which is tougher to enjoy because you are constantly seeing ways it could be improved.
