Rumor: PlayStation showcase coming up in May!

Sony is reportedly planning to hold a PlayStation product showcase next month.

That’s according to Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb, who said today he’s heard “a bunch of times” that either a PlayStation Showcase or State of Play will take place in May.

Following the news that Konami’s Silent Hill 2 remake has been classified by the ESRB, Grubb said he’s expecting the game to appear at the PlayStation event, when it could receive a release date.

“I have heard that there will be a PlayStation something, either a State of Play or a Showcase, next month, in May, so this is probably going to be there,” he said.

“I’ve heard both a Showcase and maybe State of Play,” Grubb added. “It seems like it might lean towards Showcase, it’s definitely in that timeframe of when they did the Showcase last year.”

A PlayStation Showcase held in May 2023 ran for over an hour and featured more than 30 games, as well as the PlayStation Portal reveal.

New game announcement includedHelldivers 2, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, Marathon.Foamstars, Fairgame$, and Concord.

Thoughts, SW? If true, what would you like to see? I’m thinking we’ll see the announcement of the PS5 Pro. And we really need to start seeing 1st party announcements/reveals.

Hopefully this one delivers.

Probably see the PS5 Pro and Silent Hill 2 Remake. Maybe Spider-Man 2 dlc. Perhaps some third party content as well like Elden Ring dlc.

If they have a Pro incoming with a pathetic cpu inside, of course they have a showcase in May or June.

I'm going to assume it's the PS5 Pro thingy, getting out ahead of the other not-E3 events.

Ahead of Summer Game Fest, interesting but I get it, they rather get the heavy stuff out the way and save the little stuff for Summer Game Fest.

To have a showcase, you first need to have something to show.

At this point I'm guessing they held back all their games for the Pro, so with that in mind I'm not expecting to see a whole lot just yet unless they unveil the Pro... which may or may not be at this currently hypothetical show. lol

My expectations is ps5 pro, multiplats and remakes. A whole lot of meh.

Considering how Sony has been lately, might possibly be the most boring showcase in history of mankind.

It won't be a showcase then....how do you span an hour with nothing?

Another 4-10 state of play it is then.

Luckily the Xbox studios showcase is only a few months away...where we get to see a proper first party showcase.

I'm looking forward to them re-announcing their upcoming-but-not-yet-released GaaS titles and telling us how awesome they're going to be while at the same time announcing how little they are releasing until then, and how underwhelming it will be.

I do not care about a PS5 Pro or care to see anything about it. Just me personally. I need more to play on my PS5 to justify getting another console with the same limiting CPU.

Spiderman 2 DLC will be there, I'm sure.

Silent Hill 2 Remake I can see being shown.

MGS 3 Remake I can see being shown.

I know it won't happen, but I would love to see Days Gone 2 get green lit.

Apparently the KotOR Remake is still in the works, so maybe there will be an update on where it is at in the development cycle. Highly doubtful though.

I am sure we will get some info on Helldivers 2 updates.

Maybe PS5 will finally get a release for Vampire Survivors which would make my day.

@mrbojangles25: There was a rumor saying HZD was gonna get the remake treatment and honestly, I see zero (no pun intended) reasons for a remake. I'm all in for remakes and remasters but this isn't one of them.

Edit: The only remake I wanna see and truly needs it is Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. Now that I think about it, I hope that gets announced as it's hard to play the original by today's standard.

Wolverine is 2026. I would imagine we see game play for that in late 2025. With Sony demolishing Factions for The Last of Us 2 that they promised us (can we get refunds for TLOU2 yet?), I suspect Sony is just starting to make TLOU3. 2027 maybe?

I'm pretty sure they been working on part 3 same time working on factions.

2 years before the wolverine game sounds about right for a new trailer.

last of us 1 15 hours long to last of us 2 is a 20 to 30 hour game.
