The show began with quick previews two of the biggest PlayStation 4 titles that debuted during E3 2014, LittleBigPlanet 3 and Bloodborne, both of which drew raucous applause from those fortunate enough to attend today's event in Cologne, Germany. The opening moments of the PlayStation at Gamescom 2014 event also offered brief looks at No Man's Sky, Grand Theft Auto V (PS4) and even a quick flash of what appeared to be Nathan Drake in the nextUncharted.
Next up was Sony Computer Entertainment Europe president Jim Ryan, who introduced a variety of independently developed games that will be headed to PlayStation 4 in the coming months. That line-up includes DayZ, The Vanishing Of Ethan Carter, Volume and a pair of upcoming projects (Hollowpoint,Runemaster) from Paradox and Ruffian Games.
Viewers were also treated to a montage of gameplay footage from Dreamfall Chapters, Ether One, Papers, Please, Qube 2, Snow and Space Brawl; six games that, along with Hellblade, Rime and everything else mentioned thus far, will make their console debut on PlayStation 4. In some cases, they'll never leave the PlayStation platform.
From there, the PlayStation brass moved on to a selection of AAA games that will all be available on the PlayStation 4 in the next six or so months, many of which will offer PlayStation owners exclusive content for playing the PlayStation 3 and/or PS4 versions of the game. Fans got a brief look at the Crucible mode from Destiny - the competitive multiplayer offering that we found pretty disappointing during last month's beta tests - along with gameplay footage from Far Cry 4, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor.
