All three of the consoles have downloadable games - but wii is the only one without game demos
It would be amazing if a super mario galaxy demo were to come out on wii before the release of the game

All three consoles have games for sale - but the Wii's always cost at least $10 less
It would be amazing if Devil May Cry 4 were to be released at a more affordable price

snap!
didn't the Wii have a Metriod Prime 3 demo?

it was like videos of the game - not even playable
Nintendo is missing a trick in regards to demo's.
Obviously the console doesn't have the memory to download them....but they really should considering doing something like Microsoft did with the Halo demo in Crackdown.
Imagine how many more units Nintendo would sell of games like Battalion Wars 2if they included a Super Smash bros demo.....or they could have helped out a deserving title like Zack and Wiki by including a Smash bros demo. Cross promotion really should be used alot more.

As was stated before, the demo was video demos. It was also freakin' cool...
Second I wasn't trying to lay the smackdown on the TC. I do agree that a demo of SMG would be amazing. I just wanted to point out that these are different systems and have different advantages. Setting the playing field level would ruin competition and that would ruin innovation and that would ultimately ruin gaming. Bad for us...
The Wii may not have downloadable demos, but it does have much more affordable games so buying a stinker or two doesn't hurt nearly as bad (especially when they get bargain priced to begin with. What I'd like to see in the long run is further cuts to videogame pricing by cutting out the hardcopies. All games downloaded. All licenses are kept in company records. But we all dream i guess....
Demos kill hype.
So I dont want demo's.

Yeah...I mean..why discover that a game that looks good actually plays like garbage. Why ruin the hype when the developer can just run away with your money on release day?

wow, you would rather buy a game that doesnt live up to standards and hype it, than avoid wasting your $50-$60.
Is that a new sheep excuse i see on the horizon? oh yes it is, so now you DONT need or want Demos eh? Well ofcourse being a wii owner youd buy any game that came out since thers nothing to playGarchomPro
You have a Killzone avatar, you are in no position to talk about no games to buy.
I appreciate that you guys thought highly enough of my comment to completely disregard the OP, but let's get a little serious. Is cheap game prices an exxcuse or lack of demos? No. Are demos an excuse for high game prices? No. they are both equally horrible arguements. Demos available is great for gathering feedback to improve a game. Basically it amounts to free beta-testing (which in fact is usually either free or a sunk cost and is irrelevent). It also causes people to create preconcieved notions of a game that in many cases is not completely finished. This is bad for developers because a big flaw in a demo will hurt overall sales.
Not having demos is a pain to consumers because they really really want to try out a game, but can't. They also want to know that they'll like a game before they buy it, and playing a demo at least gives a bit of an idea of what to expect. This is great for consumers. When this isn't available a consumer is a little more cautious when making a purchase. To counteract this, lower the price (since you haven't spent the money on distributing a demo) and make it less of a leap of faith for consumers.
In the case of SMG it makes little to no sense to release a demo. Without a demo it's going to ake hotcakes jealous. I've seen a post of one guy who wanted help deciding if he should trade in his PS3 or his 360 in order to have money to purchase a Wii for this game. This is beyond a System Seller! This is a System Seller Seller!! A demo would have little to no effect on the overall sales since everyone and their dog are waiting axiously for the release.
The relevancy of demos is a different topic. The way the systems handle demos is an issue because it relates back to the system. Demos (I think) are icing on the cake. Icing that I have gotten along fine without for the past 10 years. I don't miss something I never had. I'd gladly trade demos for 1/6th (at least) off of the full game. It's apples and oranges, but Demos leave me frustrated that I get into a game that I won't be able to finish.
P.S. I know that demos drawing you in is a great marketing tool, but it has caused me to either avoid the demo or only play the demo and never get the real game. Consumers react differently.

your right, I wish there were some kind of stores that would let you take out games or movies for a few days, kind of like a library with books but with games. Hmm wishful thinking i guess.Sheep don't need demo's.
Who needs to "test" out a game before they buy it anywayz?
Its absurd.

Save time and avoid having to play through a section of the game twice.
Play an hour twice in an already filled schedule.
Save time, don't lose interest.
Replay part of a game to save $5.
Pay an extra $5 to rent the game.
Pay an extra $10 to play the entire game.
Yeah! I guess it is a tough choice!

rofl  sig worthy :lol:Demos would be nice but I havent had trouble marking what I want to buy, I seldom pick up something that I shouldn't. Perhaps a HD later on, be cool.
You're right.
The Wii could be so much better with an (optional) hard drive, then we could store music and pictures, more Virtual Console and Wiiware Games, save more things like maps, and video playback from games, download demos, previews etc.
If they made it a seperate and entirely optional purchase, it wouldnt scare away casuals or anything.
