Old-school gameplay mixed with stella story telling, brings for a good game with alot of flaws.

User Rating: 7 | Game of Thrones PS3
Game of Thrones appears to be the next big thing on the TV at the minute, and who can blame anyone for be immersed in it: brilliantly deep characters, with amazing twists and turns in a medievil fantasy setting.

The first attempt at a game from R R Martin's fantasy world was a very average RTS that not only bored, but didn't make a great deal of sense, due to there not being massive scale battles with dragons, etc in the books or show.

This new game is an RPG, that feels like it was made from the early 2000. Graphics look extremely dated, character movements in cutscenes and in game look awkward, voice acting from side characters can be poor, and the gameplay elements at times can be very repetitive. However, this game is still good.

Most games in this day and age with faults like these would normally curl up in a ball and die, never to be seen again, but this game has two things that help you get through it: a supurb story, that has you gripped from the moment you turn it on, and there is actually alot of variety in the missions you are given in the game. These two things single-handedly manage to make you almost forget all the games shortcomings. Playing as two different characters: A member of the Nightswatch and a Lord not far from Kingslanding, insure that there is plenty of variety in the location department, too.

Overall:

The game is not without its faults, it feels, looks and plays like a late Dreamcast/PS2 game. But if you aren't the shallow type, there is a gripping story to unravel here. And if your an obsessive over the Thrones world, there is plenty for you to enjoy here.

I wouldn't recommend the £40 price tag, but if you can find it for £25, your on to a winner.
