Like many recent PC adventure games, Microids' surreal tale of a corporate-broker-turned-investigator begins under rather mundane circumstances but eventually takes its protagonist to truly bizarre and colorful places. In Syberia, you play as Kate Walker, who takes a business trip to a sleepy village that has produced charming windup automatons for centuries, but you find yourself part of a larger mystery, one that will take you through colorful clockwork worlds inhabited by stiff, somber automatons that gravely tip their hats and even mourn the passing of their creator by acting as pallbearers at the funeral. Syberia's combination of highly realistic mechanical automatons and storybook-quality backgrounds makes for a truly artistic game.
