Jet Set Radio Future is an homage to street art because of its own funky cel-shaded aesthetics. The game takes full advantage of the new generation of hardware to improve upon the already impressive graphics of its predecessor, Jet Grind Radio for the Dreamcast. But the graphics weren't improved in a purely mechanical way, to just be sharper and more detailed. Some of the eye candy, like the blistering oversaturated heat effect of the boost dash and the sharp lines to convey character speed, help push Smilebit's real-time anime to a new level. There's a ton of great-looking new content, too. From the crowded street level to the rooftops, the expansive neighborhoods of Neo-Tokyo are crammed with creative details. And let's not forget the slick animations for the 12 playable characters, who will jump to breakbeat steps if you leave them idle for more than an instant.
