New games come out all the time. Sometimes it can be hard to keep track of them all, but every so often, along comes a game that just has something about it. Maybe it's completely original, or maybe it combines a bunch of other game ideas in a way that no one has ever seen before. And these games get released, and people enjoy them for a while--then they move on to something else. A lot of these great games should have gotten sequels, or even complete remakes, but somehow, they never did. They're lost. They're gone.

They may be gone, but they're not forgotten. We here at GameSpot have long memories, especially when it comes to really distinctive, really great games. That's why we're rolling out a new feature that covers some of the most original and enjoyable games ever made--ones that were so unique, so interesting, and just so plain cool that they should be remade. Sure, some of these games did get sequels, but those sequels never really captured what was so great about these original games.

So here we are, still waiting and hoping for updates to some of the best games that were never really remade. Could they be? Some of them might be, some might not--some were released only recently, while others were created by developers that have long since gone out of business. But trust us--they're all worth a second look. Let's see what we've got.
