A great introduction to an epic franchise.
PROS:
-HD: These games still look great, even with the graphical limitations imposed by their PS2 era tech. The HD is fantastic, and it adds to the scope of these already amazing games.
-Games: If you haven't played them, you must. Epic scale, simple but engaging combat, and incredible stories borrowing from the best of Greek mythology.
CONS:
-Challenge mode: The challenge mode for the first God of War is one of the single most aggravating styles of making such a program. You have to beat all of them in one sitting. No saving after the first few so you can come back later, you have to finish all 10 crazy challenge in a row. That's frustrating as all hell.
In the end, these two games were benchmark titles for the Playstation 2, and should not be missed by anyone with an interest in Sony first party franchises.
More recently, a God of War Saga collection was released, which includes the two PSP GoW games. That is preferred over this version now, but it doesn't discount the fact that this collection is still very much worth the price of admission.
