Double O HELL YEAH!!

User Rating: 7.5 | GoldenEye 007 WII
So my bro bought his mrs a Wii which she never used, she brings it round and I kinda hijack it knowing there is one game I can not wait to play, a bargain on ebay and a couple of days later I am engaged in a 5 hour long nostalgia trip on possibly one of the greatest games of all time, Goldeneye.

What amazed me about this game is that it is not simply a remake with polished graphics you can tell that they have truly put thought and effort into delivering something new, for example the sheer amount of control options available to players from the standard but IMO slightly erratic Wii controls to classic and Gamecube controllers. Then in terms of in game content characters have been remodeled with even guards having a certain amount of character, a great musical score and an epic level involving a night club.

By now everyone probably knows the Goldeneye story so I probably don't need to bore you with details but suffice to say it is one of the best 007 plots and the only true exception to the rule when it comes to film to game conversions, capturing the excitement and feel of the film perfectly even outdoing it.

The online options are truly fantastic everything you remember from the 64 days is there and then some with the inclusion of team death match variety of characters including the infamous oddjob. Online is smooth and great fun.

Minor gripes would include some issues with clipping and enemy AI magically detecting you when you have spent 10 minutes making sure you stay in the shadows and out of sight. Another area that would have pushed the score up considerably would have been the inclusion of in game extras add reply value to the title, unlockable art work, weapons a hidden level etc would have sealed the deal on a perfect wii shoot em up.

My biggest gripe however is not with Goldeneye but the fact that Nintendo seem content to be a novel console allowing an insufferable number of awful titles to be released on the system at the expense of true gamers and Nintendo fans. ESPECIALLY when games like Goldeneye prove that the Wii is capable of some fantastic games. I would gladly swap the super realistic graphics, bells and whistles of other consoles if more games developers took a leaf out of Goldeneye's book.

You must own this game!
