First of all, the game "Gone Home" is overrated. It is overrated by the Editor who is, in my opinion, supposed to be more experienced in her kind of job.
Take all the elements of game in consideration... Why 9.5 rate? What does this game have and "The Longest Journey" or "Syberia" don't have when these two got lower rates? They are true adventurous games with much more effort invested in them, they are rich, have a fabolous plot and are much more complexed. "Gone Home" is part of a girl's life story with no beggining and no end and there is actually nothing going on.
And what definitely makes the story unconvincing is bad voice acting: the girl (main voice character) sounds like she got her first period. She is reading us a story instead of living it.
I gave this game a 3 rate because I like exploring and there are a lot of rooms in the house to explore but with rare findings...the rainy night atmosphere makes this exploring interesting at moments... And that's it.
