Gran Turismo for the PlayStation is by and far the best racing game series out there. The focus on realism is very apparent. There are many cars to choose from and you can tune them to your heart's content. This tradition continues in Gran Turismo 2. If the original was amazing, the sequel is even better, There are even more cars to drive in this game. The game features all of the Japanese cars (Toyota, Nissan etc.) that the game is known for, but there are also cars from European countries such as France (Peugeot, Venturi) and Germany (BMW, Mercedes) . Each car drives differently which gives the game a lot of variety. There are also many tracks to drive, with each providing a unique challenge to the drivers. There are two game modes in GT2; Arcade and Simulation. Arcade is great for fun, casual racing. Simulation is the Holy Grail of the game, as you start your racing career with just enough money to buy a cheap car and use it to win races and earn more money which in turn will allow you to buy better, faster cars. There is also the famous (or infamous) license tests which you need to pass to gain eligibility to participate in the more competitive races. As mentioned before, you can tune basically every aspect of your car in order to make it better at the car manufacturers Tune Shop. The graphics are good for PlayStation standards. The car models all look stunning and the tracks really have an atmosphere to them. All in all GT2 is a truly amazing game from a truly amazing racing franchise. It is without question the best racing game on the PlayStation. If you have not played this game I totally recommend that you go out and buy it.
