I bought Gran Turismo because my favorite band had a song on the soundtrack, but I came to love the game and not just the music. You start out with nothing and must compete in races in order to earn money that can be used to buy and upgrade cars. This may at first appear to be quite the task, but after getting used to the game and better at racing cars game progression can go by easily. The hardest part of this game for me was obtaining the different licenses that are required to compete in certain races and of course the higher ranked races have bigger monetary rewards. Handling is another issue that I think could have been done better and made more realistic to real life driving. Going 35mph into some turns will cause you to spin out and I have found that the type of car really makes no difference in how the car handles. The multiplayer option for this game can be fun, but the tracks lack the adventurous nature of other racing games like Need for Speed. Overall this was a great flagship game to what has become one of the top racing game series on the market.
