Expected a little more for GRID

User Rating: 5.5 | GRID PS3
There are only TWO things that keep racers going back for more, that is CARS and TRACKS. Both of which is lacking in the game.

First the cars, Grid is suppose to give you the choice of trying different sorts of racing, from GT style racng, endurance and stock cars. The selection of cars is ultimately restricted and I suspect it has to do with licensing issues. in the USA, different auto makers dominate the field. That means you should be able to choose a different set of cars available in the US competition than in the Euripean ones. This is not the case as the number of vehicles made available to you for each type of racing event can be decided with the cost of a coin.

The gaming graphics are nice, the in game physics can be hard o believe though but that's ok. Makes for more fun.

Then there is the AI, which at times pretty much sucks. As long as you start to lead in the opening seconds of the game, the AI will automatically punt you off to the back so that you need to fight your way back to the front again.

Last is the tracks, bummer. Is that all? It would appear that the dudes who made this took the lazy way out. The worst track has to be Le Mans. It is dull, boring, unrealistic and a waste of time to even sit through. The races that that place on these tracks are one of the worst. There is no way to catch up if you slip on a corner as there are too many straights. In the end, it ends up being a very frustrating track option.

Then there is a lack of variation in the tracks. Each competition series will somehow take you back to the same tracks with minor alterations. Bummer. It goes to show that they didn't bother to get any help in track design beyond the code monkey they employed.

Lastly, is the Global License. You try so hard to get up to one million points to open the Global License option and the next thing you notice is that the game takes you back to the SAME damn tracks! What happent to the extras? Where is the unique tracks?

As far as I can tell, there is little reason to go for the Global License as you have the SAME cars and SAME tracks as before.

As a former professional in motorsports, I feel the playability of this game will not last. For us pros, we thrill at the challenge of a new track all the time. There isn't a dull moment, which can't be said for this game.
