Eight years after playing the game; I still remember all the amazing fun I had with it.

I remember the first time I played this game. It was at my local Walmart. Everytime I went to Walmart I would just go to the gaming section right away to play demos, and I noticed Guitar Hero. I was amazed by it, yet I didn't play it right away. It wasn't until some guy was playing it, and I was watching him that I gave it a try. I remember failing the song because I was just pressing the frets but not strumming. After playing the tutorial, my problem was fixed. Now that I knew how to play, I got addicted to the game, playing it at the store until I spent a large amount of money to buy the game. It was worth it.

Playing the game is unlike anything I remember. It was genre defining. I spent endless hours on the game until I reached Expert. I was about eight or so when I played the game. The best thing about me being so good was for an eight year old, I was amazing. I would impress many people who saw me play the game. The memories of the game are flooding in now that I am writing this review.

The controls and the gameplay were amazing. The guitar was a very good piece of equipment. It never broke after I played it for so many hours. It consisted of five frets, a whammy bar, and a strummer. The guitar was perfect. The gameplay was just the best though. It really just innovated so much with this guitar idea, and it worked. The difficulty for the game was pitch perfect. Expert was very challenging and easy was easy. Then difficulty curve was perfect. With each new venue, the game became harder.

One of my favorite things about the game though was the soundtrack. It showed me many songs I knew and many songs I didn't know. It didn't matter though if I knew them or not because all of the songs rocked and were fun to play. It recognized classics or much more "metallier" songs. Put simply, Harmonix did an amazing job compiling the diverse soundtrack. Also, the soundtrack fit me because rock my favorite genre back then.

Eight years and I still remember how great Guitar Hero was. A game must be strong for someone to remember a game after eight years. I don't remember loving too many games this much. It was so fun to play. I had a blast handing the guitar to some of my friends, so I could watch them play it. A great party game. I will always remember this game as a huge classic.
