Jak is back and...different.
First up to bat, gameplay. Yes Jak has guns now, but do they work right. Well, they work GREAT! Jak has four different types of mods for his morph gun. They all work great in different situations. The scatter gun is good for close ups and when your surronded. The blaster is good for picking off someone faraway. The Vulcan Fury is good for alot of guys spread out. And the Peace Maker works well with a pack of guys. It's kinda great that you have to think., "hmm, what kind of gun am I gonna use on this one?" Theres also a few vehicles like the zoomer, which you use to get around the city and the jetboard which you can use...anywhere. Theres many types of zoomers and they can all be used in different situations again. Like the two seater big zoomer takes alot of damage but is slow. The small one seater zoomer is really fast but can be destroyed easily. The story also more complicated. There are many more characters than before, more missions, and various other stuff. The missions are fun and mostly a little shorter than your average Ratchet & Clank world. There are MANY different kinds of missions. There are bomb bot missions, escorting missions, ring race missions etc. The racing is fun. You race with zoomers of course and you have to get in first place and complete 5 laps. There also many turbos and shortcuts during the racing. Some are hard to make but some are easy. But the newest addition to all the gameplay is the new Dark Jak. You see, The Baron, the ruler of Haven City and protector, pumped Jak with dark eco. Now Jak can turn into this beast with horns and shrap long claws and uncanny powers. He could kill a whole pack of guard or metal heads ( these evil monsters that are attacking Haven City) in a matter of seconds. A very cool addition. There also many different monsters and a few different krimzon guards. But the gameplay could be better as it is way to hard for some new people to videogaming and youngsters. I hard time with it when I was 9. There should be some kinda difficulty setting.
The graphics are I guess top notch. It could be better, a few lags in some of the images. You can also sometimes go through something a little bit. But that barely ever happens. It has great character models and great scenery. Just like in the last game, you can see for miles and see some other levels. The enemies are very well done and so are the main characters. There is no lag in the frame rate what so ever and great psychics.
The sound is great also. The voice acting is awesome. The music never gets repetitive. And there is also some great sound effects. You don't hear the same sound effects over and over agian like in some games, this has many! But there is one thing. The sound sometimes kinda cuts out and you can only hear the sound effects. But it dosn't get annoying.
There is some great value here. It has a medium length and has alot of secrets to unlock like a level select.There are a total of 286 precursor orbs and you only need 200 to unlock the last secret. You see, precursor orbs have gone scarce in the future and now they are hard to get and hard to find. So you have to complete some side missions or go look for some in other levels. You can probably find around 100 orbs out in the wild so you get to take some time and explore the area. You can also play some different games and get high scores at them like, metal mash ( a bop em' game where you try to smash certain metal heads), a gun course, racing, and doing this jetboarding trick thingy. There fun.
I really liked this game, best in the series. But what really made this game funner than the rest was the great gameplay. But if you suck at videogames, please don't play this because you might throw your playstation 2 out the window. lol
