A great FPS for the PS3 that uses a darkish style sci fi atmosphere very well.

I enjoyed Killzone 2 because it has a great, darkish atmosphere and you'll see awesome lightning strikes hitting the environment around you and the gameplay has a 'weighed down by gravity' feel to it,what I mean by that is,your character(named Sev)feels like he's weighed down by gravity(to give a more realisitic feel to the gameplay),but at the same time, the gameplay feels smooth too.The gameplay can feel intense and have a real grind to it,as enemies will often hold certain positions and the game will make you think of how to use cover and the game also has the 'crouching cover mechanic' too.

Killzone 2 has amongst the most realistic and detailed graphics you'll see from this gen.The skin and facial hair on people looks detailed, and the buildings and ruins of damaged/destroyed buildings have good use of texture. You'll see scratch marks on objects and the buildings and environments are very detailed(you'll have to see the game to know what I mean)even the way damaged buildings look looks awesome.

The game has a dark atmosphere and the buildings/structures give it an industrial style atmosphere, but sometimes you'll see a beautiful yellow sky combine with the industrialized city and combining that with parts of the city being on fire looks stunning. Not all of the gameplay takes place in the city though, sometimes you'll be in desert environments.

I like how the sci fi atmosphere in this game goes for a dark, dirty kind of look. The soldiers look scruffy, and you'll see the realistic looking wrinkles on their uniforms and I love the scene when the soldiers are travelling on some futuristic platform that flies high in the air very quickly.

I also like how the enemies(the Helghast)have glowing red eyes and wear nazi style helmets and wear an breathing thing that is similar to Darth Vader's and they'll rush at you and shoot at you in a suicidal fashion to try to kill you,and even on the easiest difficulty, just 1 Helghast rushing at shooting at you can kill you.

Incase you're wondering,in KZ2,your health automatically regenerates,so you won't need to keep searching for health packs.

I like how sometimes you'll need to be,or can be tactical, and you can use higher ground to your advantage or you can try to slowly manuever your way so you can get a good shot on your enemy(you'll often have squad mates with you and they'll also distract the enemies).

As for the weapons, there's the typical 'shotgun effective up close, assault rifle has better range be less effective up close' type of thing, but the game also has flamethrowers(effective up close and can kill multiple enemies up close quickly),sniper rifles,grenade/rocket launchers, and even if you're behind thick cover(such as a wall),a rocket launcher will still inflict a lot of damage to your health and the game has some sort of electrical weapon too.

For a bit more gameplay variety, there's times in the game you'll use a mech suit and wreck havoc on enemy bases, and you can battle against enemy tanks and aerial drones.

I can't remember much about the story, but it's set far in the future and you'll play the role of a soldier named 'Sev' and war has broken out with another human colony and their soldiers are refered to as the Helghast and I think the Helghast are supposed to be mutated humans.

The only thing I dislike about this game is sometimes it's hard to find where you need to go,and some environments can be very big and it makes it time consuming trying to find where you need to go.

Overall if you're looking for a great FPS on the PS3,Killzone 2 definately is one.
