The good crime scene clue-finding and fierce shootouts make for another valorous vice case for Phelps and Earle to close

Reefer Madness is a bonus Vice Case which revolves on a drug trafficking investigation. Vice Narcotics receives a tip from Freddie Calhoun who is a junkie, snitch and all around no-hoper. But Freddie seems to be playing it straight for once, sharing information on a city-wide marijuana distribution ring. Detective Phelps and Earle will investigate and raid their way to the top of the operation, and in the process learn how the crooks could be smuggling 50 pound shipments of dope in plain sight.

It's quite a short case that had potential to expand upon its drug trafficking theme and doesn't include enough interrogations with characters, but it falls back on it's solid shooting action, and there is no shortage of bad guys to blow away to leave for the coroner. The snappy dialogue in conversations between characters (most notably the sarcastic tone from Phelps's partner Earle when in conversation with potential suspects) make the cutscenes more watchable, and the case is engaging despite lacking plot surprises or twists. The crime scenes definitely don't warrant any negativity directed towards them, and are thoroughly engrossing like you'd expect, and are by far the highlight of this final DLC case for L.A. Noire.
