One of the greatest fighting games ever made that it will take you for a ride!

User Rating: 10 | Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes DC

My 72nd review after Daxter.

Okay, when I played this game at my friend's house, it sure looks great because of so many Marvel and Capcom characters to choose from. Anyways this game is gonna get an A++! Here the results:

Voice-acting 10/10: Just plain awesome, just like all the voices from Street Fighter game series.

Gameplay 10/10: Tons of fun and addicting that will keep you pumped up for more action! You can play as Capcom characters such as Mega Man, Ryu, and more, and you can also play as Marvel characters like Spider-Man, Wolverine, Captain America, and more, and many characters from the Marvel side (Cable, Thanos, and Psylocke) and the Capcom side (Felicia, Jill Valentine, and Hayato) have been introduced to the Marvel vs. Capcom franchise in this game. It is cool to see original characters that are part of the game's story introduced, such as Ruby Heart, SonSon, and Amingo. There is a grand total of 56 characters, making it the largest roster in history of Capcom fighting games, not to mention there's even a 3-on-3 tag-team system, compared to the traditional 2-on-2 system from the past games, and it is really awesome to use one of your own partners to assist you in a battle, instead of using an NPC to do it, like in the game's predecessor. The stages in the game are very outstanding to look at and the three-dimensional graphics on them add to the atmosphere of said stages. It's really amazing to use one of your own partners to assist you in a battle, instead of using an NPC to do it, like in the game's predecessor. A new feature called "Snap Back" is added to the game, which allows you to kick your opponent out of the fight and have one of their partners come out and fight you instead. Your meter starts at Level 1, which allows you to use your Hyper Combo. However, if you use it Level 2, two of your characters will both perform their Hyper Combos, and using the meter at Level 3 or higher will allow all three of your characters to perform their respective Hyper Combos at the same time. The home system ports add plenty of additional content, like a shop that lets you buy characters, stages, portraits, and color swaps, a Time Attack mode, and a Survival mode, so that's a plus. A few downsides to think of are that the AI can be really cheap at times, like whenever they excessively block your attacks, making it difficult to damage them at all, and the game has a manual save system instead of auto-save, so you have to save your progress manually in the menu or if you turn off the system, you will lose your progress.

Graphics 10/10: Pretty tender, colorful, and cool!

Controls 10/10: Precisely stunning!

Sound/Music 10/10: The sound effects are extremely awesome. That's what every animated game series, especially fighting games like this should have. And the soundtrack is very memorable, including the Character Select screen theme music, despite it saying "I Wanna Take You For a Ride" over and over and over and over again, which gets very repetitive. I also like the jazz-themed music in the game, even though it may throw off other players who are used to more rock or techno music from the past games.

Lasting Appeal 10/10: Can be one of the best fighting games ever made!

Overall, Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes is one of the most legendary fighting games ever made.

The Good:

-Large variety of Marvel and Capcom characters, not to mention it even has a grand total of 56 characters, making it the largest roster in history of Capcom fighting games

The Bad:

-While the character select theme music is very catchy, it's very repetitive due to it repeatedly saying "I Wanna Take You For a Ride" over and over and over and over again

-Really cheap at times AI, like whenever they excessively block your attacks, making it difficult to damage them at all

-While the jazz-themed music is nice and relaxing, it may throw off other players who are used to more rock or techno music from the past games

-Only contains manual save system instead of auto-save, making you obligated to save your progress manually in the menu or you will lose your progress if you turn off your system

I'm a fan of fighting games. This is one of those memorable games the Dreamcast has ever had next to Sonic Adventure 1 & 2, Shenmue 1 & 2, Crazy Taxi, Jet Set Radio, Skies of Arcadia, Marvel vs. Capcom 1, SoulCalibur, etc. Good day everyone! That's the end of my review.

Marvel vs. Capcom 2 gets a 10 out of 10!
