Cheating AI's kills much of the fun.

It's a good game, no doubt about it, but its biggest flaw is the AI. When you, on average difficulty, find that, no matter what you do, no matter the FAQ you read, you're still behind in everything, you begin to suspect that there's a dog buried somewhere...

And I am pretty damn sure the AI cheats something awful. About some 30+ minutes into the game, I might have, say, four planets under my control, somewhat well developed. And the computer?

Oh, he'll have fifteen. And 100+ ships. I've had eleven planets, all with Star Fortresses, and I still can't raise a fleet bigger than 45+ or so before my income turns negative.

An hour into the game? The computers will have killed each other and one will remain, usually with OVER HALF THE DAMNED MAP under his control. WITHOUT FAIL. EVERY DAMN TIME.

By then he'll have 250+ ships. Half of them Doom Stars with Stellar Converters or Death Rays. And I've tried cheating, too, just out of spite, and even then, I can't raise fleets that big.

I've come to conclusion that the AI IS CHEATING. And that blows, because I expected more out of a game like this.

The game's good, but it could be a lot better if the AI did not cheat so blatantly. It kills the fun when you know that no matter how well you're doing, you can bet your ass that the computer is doing at least twice as well.
