MNR is a Playstation exclusive title that make the karting games increase their options to have fun for long time
I loved it since I saw the trailer, found it pretty interesting the option of making your own kart, customize it in any way you want, with different body models, stickers and stuff for it (tyres, steering wheels, spoilers, etc). And not only for karts, for Mods (characters) and Tracks too. How awesome is that!?. The ability to do all that in a karting game is without a doubt a great incentive for a game that not only covers the basics of previous karting games from other consoles... it gives far beyond more of its predecessors. You can spend hours building and customizing one simple kart, mod or track and not getting bored at all, adding some props here and there... some crazy sheeps, turtles, or even aligators to the surroundings, put some water, beatiful landscapes, castles, everything you imagine is there, or you can build it putting together some props. This game makes your creativity come out and shine in whatever you imagine to build. And if you feel lost at the beginning, there are several tutorials you can watch in the game, so there are no excuses for creating your dreamed track in this game. And of course, because its a Create, Share and Play, you can share your creations online so people can download it, rate it, and use it for their races, as well as you can see others creations published and download some kicking ass mod, killer track, or spectacular track that you found and like.
As a matter of the races, the fun is unlimited, game has its long main story where you are in the hands of "Tag", your mod, a guy who dreams to be a MRC Champion. You will have to help Tag to win 4 different championship, competing with the local champions in order to dispute the Final Tour where the champion is crowned. You will meet some funny and interesting characters between your ride to the finals, and with that developing your skills in the game. You can drift, smash, make big jumps and collect balloons that are weapons to be shot to your rivals, there are 4 different kind of weapons, and each one of them can be increased to a level 3 weapon, (collecting 3 balloons without shooting before) so the damage, and chances, to hit your opponents will be increased. Drifting a lot, making air spins during a jump, and smashing or hitting opponents with guns gives you fuel that can be used as a turbo, or as a shield to protect you for being hit with massive rockets, or a lightning right on your head. All of these stuff makes the game enjoyable for playing solo, with your friends in a 4 split screen race, or in multiplayer.
Multiplayer is a lot of fun, you can race tracks made for all the ModNation gamers that are published, you can race xp series (5 races), single xp races, host a party when you select the next track to race, or even try to achieve the fastest lap for a specific track in the Hot Lap challenge.
The variety of options in the game are huge so the fun is guaranteed for you. ModNation Racers came to revolutionize the concept of karting games and put it on a new level that hasn't been seen in other kart game before. Of course you may have a little glitches that UFG solve through the time, and some bad things that some people dislike, like the waiting time between races or changing of areas for the modspot to the creation area for example, but there are not as long as other games.
ModNation Racers is a game I definitely recommend to try. And for those who want more of this game, there are a lot of DLC's available in the PS Store: 3 More Championships, parts for mods, karts and tracks, themes, etc.
