A good arcade racer worth playing

User Rating: 7 | Motorstorm Apocalypse PS3

Motorstorm Apocalypse is a prime example how to make an arcade racing game with great enviroments and tracks. The various cars and the destruction that happens on these tracks are amazing. The game offers multiplayer and singleplayer experiences that goes as far as the player wants to explore the game itself.

The racing in the game and the handling is solid. The game really handles well and transitions well between the racing lanes and dropping down between bridges and buildings. You don't feel that it's the games fault when you play and you miss a turn or a jump. The game also utilizes destruction to a very good degree, making the various tracks in the game really fun to play. There are also enough of different tracks to give any player enough variety to choose from. The singleplayer and multiplayer entices you to get the best times and being the best player by giving you times to master for each track. This translate well in the singleplayer really well in particular. The game doesn't have enough of this unfortunately, there are only some cards to collect and times to master. There isn't really anyhting beyond that to make the player play the game more unfortunately, but it is a good game to play while it lasts.

The graphics are amazing to watch when the enviroment around you explode and get destroyed. It's a joy driving through the tracks while this is going on in the background. The game also runs really smooth and didn't have any bugs that i noticed. The cars look great while playing through these amazing well designed tracks visually. It is also very pleasing to play these tracks.

The audio doesn't really stand out unfortunately. It's good for the explosions and the sound of the engine in tunnels for example. But doesn't really stand in any other way unfortunately. The game doesn't make the most use of the sound picture, but does what it suppose to really well.
