it is a 1.1 version of the previous game, must buy if you do NOT have UNS2!

I loved the previous naruto game; was nice to have the freedom to run around the map, without spending hours to find locations and objectives like in the previous one; plus the introduction of the real time bashing button a la god of war was great for the boss battle.

I still love the game, i still play it, I will keep it for sure!

Now to this one.....it is basically the same with more characters and the substitution feature (thank god!)...is the game worth full price? I think the answer is no, unless you do not own UNS2.

The substitution feature is awesome; with it you can avoid to get caught in lengthy combo sitting there without the chance to do a thing (which was one of the worst feature of UNS2, in conjunction with the crappy online fighting system), but now it looks much more playable, and it is in fact like a real fight in the anime, where often you see them using the sub jutsu to avoid an attack.

The limit is right; since this is a powerful feature, if you spam subs you will be basically invincible, and that would ruin the game; so use the parry and resort to the sub jutsu only when your enemy is attacking with a powerful combo, and you will have hours of fun!.

The story is awesome; I've not reach yet the end but I would expect that it will stop SPOILER ALERT to the timeframe where naruto gets control of the demon fox powers END SPOILER, so it goes a bit further from the story of UNS2, and this is good, since many things happens! If you read the manga you know already all, but for the others that are still watching the anime in the english release (the *** release is ahead) it may contain something new.

The controls are mostly the same; like the backgrounds, locations and models of the various naruto characters; it was polished more, adding new characters and the whole old generation (which is a nasty marketing move just to add the old characters from the previous games into a new one, and boast about the number of characters available), and in general looks great; but if you have UNS2 you will have a feeling of deja-vu and wonder why didn't they just made an expansion with the extra part of the story and the extra characters instead.

The problem here is that we are getting to the point of the EA sports yearly release....update roosters, add few features here and there and sell it at full price. An expansion, like you see for many games (GTA4, Red Dead redemption, just to mention the most famous ones) as DLC would work just fine, since to me, most of the game content is basically just taken from the previous game, embellished and released as new.

The game is awesome; if you do NOT OWN UNS2 this is a must buy, and I would give it a 9 for sure; but if you have already spent 60 dollars for the previous UNS2 game; you may want to hold your horses and wait until gamestop put it at reduced price (i would not pay for this game more than 30 bucks honestly); you are not missing that much if you have the previous game.

If people start to send clear signals to the developers, that they buy games but they don't get fooled in buying new revisions of the same game at full price, they will get the message and give us amazing products.

CC2 did an excellent job from UNS to UNS2, that was a full upgrade, but this Generations game feels more like an update honestly, and I cannot believe that naruto fans will just waste 60 dollars to upgrade to this version of the game...i am a fan too and i returned the game (god bless gamestop policy refund on pre owned), so i will buy it later on brand new, at reduced price.

This does not take away the fact that this is a great game; I want it and the only complain that i have is just for the price at which it is sold; it is a good buy if you have UNS2, and a MUST BUY if you have UNS1 or previous games
