I have been playing basketball games since NBA Live 2003 and NBA 2K since 2K9. This review is for the veterans of the basketball games.
Single-Player: 8/10
Multi-Player: 5/10
Since launching on the PS4 in 2013, the game have not made any big changes to the formula. The only thing they have done is refined and added animations and degraded the graphics quality from 2K14.
One of the best things that happened this year is that they improved the on-ball defence. It's very difficult to drive in this game which excellent.
You should buy this game for the single player experience. It's almost perfect in terms of features and even gameplay. 8/10 is because it hasn't improved in any mode but it has always been good so it doesn't matter.
Calling it a simulation game is accurate in the single player modes. However, MyTeam and MyCareer park just sucks for 95% of the NBA 2K community. They play it because everyone is doing it but MyTeam and Park are not a fun way to play this game.
Unrealistic cards, 3 pointers to every player(again), poor single player and multiplayer design ruins the MyTeam mode. 90% of the cards would be useless in 3 months and people would be playing with 2-3% of the cards. Everyone will have a very similar diamond team.
I don't invest much time in park because I never do any micro-transaction in the game. I don't think if my player is so capable of becoming an HOF, he would be a 60 overall at the beginning of his career. The grind is hard to reach 80-90+ overall, especially when most of the guys bought their way to 90+ overalls.
The gameplay especially inside defence and inside offence needs a complete overhaul. Player ratings/attributes should be realistic in the MyTeam mode. This game could have been special but for now it's fair.
