A light-hearted and enjoyable FPS that is a refreshing distraction from the intensity of other games in the genre

Let me say first off that I am a hardcore fan of the Battlefield franchise and have been since 2005 when BF2 first enthralled me with its 64 man servers and fast-paced battle-like simulation. The game most often inhabiting the Blu-ray drive of my Xbox One nowadays is Battlefield 4. Actually, I bought PvZ on a whim after seeing a brief gameplay video on youtube. I had some in-store credit at Gamestop and with no other game or DLC to buy on the horizon I decided to delve into the PvZ world. Let me say that I have not been disappointed. I still play plenty of battlefield but now when I get into a situation when I am getting frustrated and curse netcode and lag; instead of throwing a controller or rage quitting (I'm exaggerating here to make a point) I simply turn to PvZ for some laughs and an interesting gaming experience. After playing PvZ for hours I came to a realization that I had not once gotten upset, angry nor anywhere near the point of throwing a controller. Sure I had been dying and dying often yet it did not seem to matter as much - i was still enjoying the game. Perhaps it's just me but PvZ puts me in a light-hearted mood; and I often find myself laughing while playing. It's simply impossible for me to rage while playing this game - and that it something I can't say about BF4 or Titanfall (the other game that keeps me and my Xbox One occupied). That's not to say that the game is simplistic and does not require strategy or skill; on the contrary - despite it's amusing environment and goofy characters, you actually do have to engage your brain and play with some thought and attention if you want to do well and win often. This game gets a solid 8 out of 10 in my book. I keep the case next to BF4 and Titanfall - ready to keep me entertained when the other battlefields get too laggy or just too aggravating for this gamer.
