Missing a Few Things That Made The Original Trilogy Stand-out... But Still A Great Entry In The Series

The Forgotten Sands, with a title like that you'd think this game would be cursing itself to be forgotten, but nope, this latest entry in the POP series (though it may not be anything standout) refuses to be anything of the sort. It's definitely not as rich, nor as memorable as the original trilogy, but it's still a great game that is absolutely worthy of your time. The story is a bit too similar to The Sand of Time, though not as well done, if anything the story in this one is kind of a throw-away. but where The Forgotten Sands fails on a compelling plot it makes up for with excellent and fine tuned gameplay. the combat is fun, but it's the acrobatic wall running, wall climbing, wall jumping that makes POP what it is, and here there is plenty of it. from doing parkour to solving puzzles (albeit only few make it into this game) to slashing the heck out of undead skeleton warriors, you will be having yourself a really good time. Sadly though one thing that's disappointing about Forgotten Sands is the fact that it's way too short, though it is fun I would have liked to have climbed some more temples, towers and what not, as well as have solved a lot more puzzles before the end credits rolled. and that's another thing, talking about the ending brings to mind the rather dull and disappointing final boss battle, it's not that it's bad or anything, it's just that for being the final boss fight it wasn't exciting or as thrilling enough to be the final moments of the game. well anyway, though it does have its disappointments, The Forgotten Sands was still a joy to play, at least for the short time it lasted.

Overall, despite its short single-player, lack of puzzles and a bit of a disappointing finale, I still really enjoyed playing Forgotten Sands... though if it had been longer, I probably would have enjoyed it even more.

Verdict: 7/10
