Prince of Persia The Forgotten Sands Game Review

User Rating: 8 | Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands DS

Prince of Persia The Forgotten Sands is a semi-sequel game which took place inbetween Prince of Persia The Sands of Time and Warrior Within. Sometime after his adventures in India and defeating the Vizier, The Prince was sent to the kingdom of Persia where his older brother Malik was ruling, to learn how to hone his Martial Arts skills (assuming that the Prince was still an inexperienced warrior and nobody remembered his past adventures in India). Around that time, his brother's kingdom was being invaded, so in desperation he decided to open a great seal to release a magical army that once belonged to King Solomon, but the army instead turned against Malik's remaing army, turning them into stone. He and his brother got seperated, but he finds help from Razia, the queen of the Djinn, who knows how to stop the army.

The Forgotten Sands is a great game to play, despite feeling a short game which takes 3 days to finish. The Prince has some new Parkour skills, one where you jump on the wall and run up the wall to cling onto the ledge. There is also another feature where you slide down a hill and jump or follow through with a run along the wall. You can also climb up or down on bricks Spiderman style. The Prince get to fight a swarm of undead sand warriors. His combat style is basic 4 or 5 hit combo moves. He can make a powerful sword swing, knocking out a number of undead sand warriors, and throw a kick followed through with a sword strike or a deathblow with his sword while his foe is down. He can jump off of an enemy and swing his sword at them. Throughout the game, the Prince receives Special powers from Razia, queen of Djinn. You get the power to rewind while you are about to die or were not satisfied on how you finished off some of your foes. You can freeze running water and run up the ice and jump off to get to hard to reach places. You can freeze water to vault off the beam and cling on poles which you can freeze into ice to jump from one pole to the next. You can vault off of vultures where you can jump and zip line your way onto them and then jump to the next one. There are so many obstacles that are more challenging than the previous Prince of Persia games. The game can be repetitive and frustrating, but at least you have a balance in solving certain puzzles and ways to get past obstacles along with fighting through a legion of undead sand warriors, which makes a unique 3D Platformer which you can never get tired of. Another new power that the Prince posess are the four elements of Earth, Wind, Fire, and Water. The 4 elements elements can help fight off overwhelming adversaries. Iceblasts (water element), Stone Armour (Earth), Whirlwind which can knock a number of adversaries down (Wind), and Flameblast (Fire).

The controls for PC is quite tricky and as you progress it can be difficult to get the right coordination off of a keyboard. I find some lag here and there throughout the levels and the cutscenes too. The CG and the gameplay graphics look rich. Prince of Persia the Forgotten Sands is a great game to play, it combines puzzle solving, obstacles, and hack n' slash action which can be addictive. The game can be played through the internet on a netword provided by Ubisoft called Uplay. Throughout the game you get to gain bonus points in order to unlock special items. The Prince of Persia The Forgotten Sands is for anybody who is a fan of action/adventure 3D platformer style games.
