Good story and visuals, but slow, too long, quite a few boring and meaningless missions, empty and dull game world.

Red Dead Redemption marks the first time I haven't really liked a game that has gotten fantastic reviews, and great scores. I mean, on most sites, this game has scores almost as good as The Last of Us, but for me, to even compare it the two, feels like a great great insult to The Last of Us, which is one of the best games I've ever played. Red Dead was so boring and unnecessarily dragged out, that it gave me a dull headache, and seems to have put me off video games for a while (not too long, just a while). The fundamental premise was good, but given that this is one of the first MAJOR game set in the wild west (to my knowledge), or the dying wild west, I expected it to be much better, but it disappointed from the get-go. It never really picked up pace, and it got to the point where I just wanted it over, and to be put out of my misery. The main story was good, but the majority of the missions had nothing to do with the main story, but were done simply in preparation for and to garner favor with certain people. Even then the missions themselves were no great shakes, especially the 'farming' missions, where you herd cattle, and break horses, and track and hunt, I mean, really, these drove me insane. I don't have a problem with them being there, I mean, I've enjoyed hunting in games where it was done well, such as AC IV and GTA 5, but here it was just poor. And the herding cattle and breaking horses, really? REALLY? What is this, some corny farm/zoo game on a phone/tablet?

Seriously, maybe I'm just losing my sense of taste, or maybe its just that different people like different things, but I never thought the day would come when I would play such a critically acclaimed game and not really like it, because for the life of me, I can't understand how this game got such GREAT scores. Its a good-ish game, the best parts being the main story, and the graphics and the countryside, but definitely not great. Most of the time its just disappointing and very frustrating, and very dull in its vast EMPTY open world. (Definitely not worth 20 hours of valuable time).
