A moving story, a competent fighting system and a game that I would like to see more about in the future

This is the first time I come to hear from Dontnod, a french development team that has presented a very interesting beat-em-up kind of game, where the good timing is well rewarded and skillful combo placement is everything.

In Remember me, you play as Nilin, a memory hunter agent, on a mission to rid the city of neo-Paris from leapers and the iron grip of the Sensen corporation... On a second thought, the argument is perhaps tried and tired, but the story develops at a good pace and has enough twists to keep it interesting, which in turn, entices the player to continue with the story to find out how it will end.

Having a story revolving the memories of its characters, the game also offers interactive cut-scenes for the player to alter the characters behaviors and reactions, it is an interesting aspect of the game, but it has no impact overall on the gameplay of the game.

Remember me is a very linear game, which may detract players hoping for open worlds to explore, the city of Neo-Paris has excellent ambientation, but the paths are fixed and the exploration is limited, just to the places where the game has hidden stashes for upgrades for your character.

This game makes great use of the Unreal engine, for displaying a wide variety of locations, from the pristine high places of the city, to the filthy sewers, up to the sanitized areas of the city local fortress.

The fighting system is somewhat basic, yet effective way to inflict pain to your victims, Ninin has a very large array of combos to her disposal, all of them can be customized by "Pressens" a.k.a: the ingame name for your strikes, which include striking, healing and cooling down your special abilities.

Speaking of the special abilities, your character also unlock over the duration of the game, special attacks that are necessary for bringing your enemies down, which they range from an uncontrolled frenzy, to stealthy take down heavy opponents.

Overall, Remember me is a short yet sweet game, with an agreeable combat system and interesting story and setting. It may not win any prizes, but it is a great experience nonetheless, that should be played at least once.
