This game has been sitting on my HDD for a long long time. Ever since its release I wanted to try it, even though it got bashed a lot. The setting just got to me and I'm glad I finally decided to play it.

Story:

I simply loved the setting/premise of the game. Taking place in a futuristic Paris called "Neo Paris", the game takes us to a future where memories are no longer your own personal things, they are a commodity being exploited, overused etc etc. IT was just a cool concept, memories are the one thing that is always personal to you, no one can take that away from you. But here, even that privilege was gone, there was literally no privacy any more.

Now the flow of the story was a bit messy. I mean there were certain aspects that I liked, like the protagonist, Nyllin, and how she was fighting against the corporation responsible for all this memory mess. BUT the pacing was off, and there wasn't any really good secondary characters around. Overall though, the story was still pretty good and kept me invested in it till the very end, which was satisfying indeed.

Gameplay:

Remember me is a combat action game. I found it to be decent. You had the ability to make your own combos, not the order of the buttons, but different animations along with different skills like health regen, power etc, and this added a bit of tactics into the mix. Different situations often called for different combos, and it was a pretty good addition. You unlock things as you play along, so the combat indeed gets better later on in the game. Still, it did get repetitive a lot. Most of the time you would be just dodging and using the 3-hit combo. The dodging itself was made quite easy so the fights weren't challenging. The boos fights varied, some were mediocre while some were not bad. The game also had a lot of platforming, but almost all of it was just very straightforward and boring.

Best thing about the game was the memory remix sequences, where you would alter someones memory to change their personality. It felt so unique and amazing to play with a person's mind and actually change who they are. Unfortunately, this best thing was few and far between, there were hardly 3-4 sequences in the entire game.

Worst thing about this game was that it was just TOO LINEAR. Such an awesome setting but you don't get to explore it even the least bit. Just so disappointing.

Graphics:

Neo Paris looked gorgeous. The game might not be that impressive technically but its aesthetics, great detail to the surrounding etc made it a really good looking game overall.

Sound:

The game boasted a unique and amazing soundtrack. It was like a mixture of orchestra, elctronic and some distortion here and there. And it all came together perfectly. Really complemented the theme and setting of the game. Kudos to the composer.

Overall:

Yet another game which was got a bad reception at launch and was bashed a lot but I found it to be pretty good. Definitely try this out, just for the setting, if nothing else.
