Even if it's a platformer dating back to 1993, this remake is not as good as it sounds or looks.

User Rating: 6.5 | Rocket Knight PC
Firstly, why I gave it a measly 6.5 for this game: too much jumping around and timing stuff.

But before reading the rest of this review, please be certain that you won't be pissed off by what I am going to write here and please be mindful of these points: 1) I'm quite sure I suck at platformers. 2) I don't have as much patience as some people do.

Alright, starting the review with pros.

1) Graphics.
2.5D is sometimes the best way to present a game, no matter mario or rocket knight. Same concept. 2.5D = graphics somewhere in between 2D and 3D, meaning it has some parts looking 3D, but the overall look is still side-scrolling 2D. Visuals are very appealing and Sparkster looks very detailed. Oh well... Everything in this game looks really details. Real eye-candy. This 2.5D concept is usually (imo) better than some of the modern 3D engines you have nowadays.

2) "I've got the power!!"
Right... So Sparkster is a jetpack/rocket carrying squirrel of some sort... Ok... Let's just classify Sparkster as a brown squirrel-like rodent. His attacks are flashy. Zooming all around the entire place just killing wolfs and the lot. A lot of combinations for attacking your enemies but make sure to take note of the fuel gauge. No fuel = no booster = no fancy attacks (especially in the later levels where your jetpack has frozen over). Ricocheting off walls to get up to otherwise unreachable places is also fun in a way. This never gets boring no matter how you look at it.

Now on to the cons. If you are someone easily pissed off, please stop reading right here and press the "X" button on your browser (whatever browser you're using).

1) Repetitive.
Main point of this game is continuously repeating what you've done over the past few levels over and over again. Which namely is flying around (jetting?) and killing wolfs with your sword. That's all there is to it. The only other variety this game has is the levels which you fly with your jetpack and shoot down enemies coming from in front, behind and sometimes below. Yeah... On top as well. While this flying around like a fighter jet can be entertaining, the rest of the levels are all platforming, platforming, more platforming.

2) 0.5 Seconds Worth Of Time.
In 0.5 seconds, what can you do? Press a keyboard button maybe. This game requires you to somewhat have split second timing whereby you have to press the buttons to fly around. In time. The first few levels were not so bad until you reached the stage where your jetpack freezes over and you are in the wolf's fortress. Too much timing required. Coupled with the annoying wolfs who shoot pew pew bullets at you, it isn't a pleasant experience at all.

That concludes the review.

It's really up to you if you want to buy this game on Steam or not. I felt I wasted my money though.
