I'm on hard. Haven't finished the story yet as I'm focusing on the side missions.
The Good-
- Leaping tall buildings in a single bound and being faster than a speeding bullet never gets old.
- Variety of weapons and powers all with their own extensive upgrades and visual customizations.
- Getting to cure cancer or end hunger (I chose curing cancer).
- Numerous side missions and activities. Some are real fun, some are just filler.
- Accurate aiming system for weapons
- Your wardrobe potential (From bare @$$ naked to a Mind Craft character knock off to a toilet) is endless
- At times funny dialogue
The Bad-
- While numerous, many of the side missions are repetitive, repeating the same activity over and over under a slightly different story line. Hack the store, stave off 3 waves of enemies, etc.
- AI is dumb as dirt including the "bosses".
- Graphics are blah. (playing on PS3).
- Leaping, gliding and sprint powers make driving a vehicle a slower option to travel around the city and thus redundant.
- Having to return to the ship to talk to your associates to start almost every side mission, sometimes at both the beginning AND end of the mission. I'm in a freaking Matrix do we really need to slow things down for face time?
- Story makes little sense, but this could be nit picking as I don't think a Last of Us storyline was the developer's focus.
Overall:
20/20 hindsight, I would have waited to get it used, but I would still buy it. I liken a game like SRIV to a game such as Sniper Elite V2 in that there as moments in each game which offer true "holy $h*t!" moments unfortunately followed by a many "Not this $h*t again!" chaser.
