Super Powers unite

User Rating: 8 | Saints Row IV PS3

Saints Row 4 picks up where Saints Row The Third ended. Your now the free leader of the USA, the president and are overthrown by aliens. The game feels alot like Saints Row 3 but sorta feels like more like it could of been an expansion than a full pledge game. Gone are the gangs that were in Saints Row 3 and replaced with them are Aliens which control hot spots that you have to wipe out. I really like going after the gangs in the previous Saints Row games. The writing isn't as good as Saints Row 3, in the previous game the story was hilarious. In Saints Row 4, I will give them credit for making fun of old school video games through homages(I won't say which ones are mocked) but it's neat to see some get mentioned. The story's pretty short, you can basically upgrade your character to level 50 before the end of the game. I do like the cameos from previous Saints Row's members in the game, I really hope these characters return i the next game. I do like the super powers but it makes the game feel more like a super hero game then a Saints Row game. It's like they took a page outta Crackdown and Prototype as that's what I saw when I get collecting orbs to upgrade my powers. The soundtracks is really good though I hated how you can't custom it with costume sound tracks. The activities from Saints Row 3 return but I really miss the helicopter missions in Saints Row 3 which were fun to play and kinda hard. The weapons are cool especially the alien weapons, you can upgrade them and even change the color of them. Overall I had fun with this game and the DLC is worth getting, get the season pass if you want more of Saints Row 4. The ending is good, was expecting it to end like Saints Row 3 but it leaves room for a sequel.
