Saints Row IV, a honest review.

User Rating: 6.5 | Saints Row IV PC
In this review I'm going to be completely honest. I will look at this game as a Saints Row game and there will be comparison with the older installments.

Plot: Firstly, the game was supposed to be a DLC and a lot of that is here, there is more content added though ! In Saints Row IV you are the president. The game opens with an action-packed mission, which was overall funny. After the mission, 5 years later, you are the president of the USA. The president aspect of the game is very poor, you make three decisions and thats it. For the rest of the game you just know that you're president but you don't do anything much. The story is boring and unoriginal, it's funny at some parts and it has a lot of references. Zinyak was an interesting villain but you only have 2-4 encounters with him.

Gameplay: The gameplay was repetitive and the awfully boring super powers did not change it much. At first it was cool to have powers and the thrill of unlocking them was amazing. Collecting clusters was fun and addicting. The powers however are disappointing. No laser vision or flying. GLIDING OVER THE CITY IS NOT FLYING. The enemies were very frustraiting to beat but not impossible. Weapon customization was okey and having maxed-out weapons was indeed needed. They were especially helpful at times. There are some wackey weapons here such as the dubstep gun, but they could have had more customization. Vehicles on the other hand were completely unnecessary since you were faster than anything. Most of the city was recycled so nothing new there. The activities were mostly the same just now you have UFO mayhem and fight club which was annoying as hell. There are a few other new activities but they weren't that fun to do.The customization of your character was also really recycled.

Graphics: The graphics were just like the ones in Saints Row: The Third, the game is optimized very good so it will run on slower machines.

Soundtrack: The soundtrack here is just amazing. Reggae music is back, but on the cost of the metal station from Saints Row: The Third. A dubstep station is also included in this game.

Multiplayer: Co-op is back again and is good as always, playing around with superpowers is fun since you have your buddy to mess around with.

Verdict: My final verdict is 6.5. The series went downhill with Saints Row: The Third, the story is week, unoriginal and very short with only around 20 main missions. The side-quests are a lot more but they mostly make you play the boring activities. The gameplay gets repetitive and dull very fast and superpowers here are disappointing. You won't be playing as Superman here.
