Shatter is a modern take on break out. Wait you are 5 and don't know what break out is? Wait if you are 5 why are you here? Nevermind, break out was one of the first games where you hit a ball with a paddle and break blocks. Shatter takes that formula adds great graphics, mesmerizing sound, and some new powers.

First off not all levels are rectangle with you at the bottom. Some are round, and some you are on the left side hitting the ball to the right. Blocks move, explode, shoot of in directions like rockets, or blow your ball around. It adds flair and a new level of tactics. Now to help you smash them to pieces you can blow air at you ball to keep in going or suck it back to you to change the direction. Its a good change that pushes the normal break block style into the new century.

Now the suck mechanic also has another affect. When you smash blocks they become shards that give you energy. When you suck the shards towards your "bat" they give you power. The power servers 2 purposes. First you can generate a shield which if a block is falling towards you destroys it, so you don't go flying out of the play field and lose your ball. Secondly, and more importantly when your power bar is full you can release a shard storm which shoots hundreds of bullets for a limited time at the blocks. It destroys nearly everything its hits, plus it just looks awesome.

The music is great. It fits the game perfectly.

Lastly this game has bosses. Go play it for yourself and see. These things are awesome!

Bonus: If you are a PSN Plus member the game is free until November 30th 2010. So go get it.
