nice entry but needs some fixes to be enjoyable

User Rating: 7 | Sid Meier's Civilization: Beyond Earth PC

Civilization: Beyond Earth has a lot of great features. The virtues and tech tree are well done and the game is interesting and engaging for Civ fans like myself while presenting a new setting. It's come a long way from the old Alpha Centauri/Alien Crossfire and has many Civ V-type features. Affinities are key and the AI doesn't play that well. My biggest frustration was the !*@# trade routes. Trade routes expire often, it appears to be every 10 turns, and have to be re-tasked. So once you develop a large empire with many cities, you waste time every turn re-tasking trade convoys. There presently is no way to automate this and the expiration of routes even between your own cities wastes a lot of time. If this could be automated or if trade routes could simply be renewed with a single click, it would take away much of the grunt work that's killing the game for me. A simple fix would greatly improve. Where were the beta testers?
