An Improvement Over the First "Sonic The Hedgehog" Game Gear game Visually, But MUCH Harder As Well!

These days, whenever anybody seems to talk about the "Sonic The Hedgehog"'s classic days, everyone ALWAYS mentions the Sega Genesis games that everyone always seems to love and talk about! Don't get me wrong, those are great games, but RARELY do you EVER hear anybody talk about the collection of games that Sonic was in for the Game Gear. I think that probably, the biggest reason why Game Gear games aren't more talked about today, is probably due to the fact that the system itself, simply ate batteries like there was no tomorrow. And it's a shame that the system is maligned simply due to it's hardware limitations, because some of the games that came out for the system are really GREAT when you DON'T have to worry about battery energy! While the first "Sonic the Hedgehog" game for the Game Gear acts more like a down-graded version of the Sega Genesis version of "Sonic The Hedgehog", this game does something REALLY daring, and decides to make a completely all brand NEW game, not connected to the Sega Genesis version of "Sonic The Hedgehog 2" whatsoever! Instead, this game feels more like an interquel between the Genesis versions of "Sonic The Hedgehog 1 & 2", because Sonic has to save Tails from the diabolical clutches of Dr. Robotnik! However, while the game has great music, great sound, great controls, and is VISUALLY a massive improvement over Sonic's first appearance on the Game Gear, even approaching Turbographx-16 levels at times, this game is a LOT harder to complete in comparison to the first one! Unlike some other games, where collecting all of the Chaos Emeralds was optional; here it's actually a REQUIREMENT if you even WANT the chance to play the Final Level and rescue Tails. Fail, and you'll actually be treated to a DOWNER ending! While this game introduces some new gimmicks that the first Game Gear game didn't have (and some gimmicks that haven't reappeared since) such as hang-gliding, riding in mine carts, floating in giant air bubbles, or having to launch yourself up rotating cylinders; hang-gliding and launching yourself up rotating cylinders seem to focus on TRYING to adhere to real-life physics TOO much, instead of focusing more on trying to make the game fun and beatable for players who can't get the hang of those physics! Thankfully, if you're going to play this game, you can play the version available on "Sonic Origins Plus" for the Nintendo Switch, as you can save the game at ANY point, and load up the same save point as many times as you need, in order to avoid taking damage, and to collect those well-hidden Chaos Emeralds! If you can collect all six Chaos Emeralds in this game, beat Dr. Robotnik's final machine, and rescue Tails, you can consider yourself a TRUE Video Game Expert! Enough said, true believers!
