your gear does not do any thing it just for looks it doe not inspire you to get any better gear so why mess with it I think they did a lot better on soul calibur 4 they had so much to go on there is a lot of different items in the game the story part it pretty good the could have done a way with the online play and brought back two player mode. I like the way you could choose the different specs on your gear and and weapons also your different power up witch gived you so many different ways to play
