The return of a true snowboarding game franchise.

User Rating: 9.5 | SSX PS3
It's been years but in 2010 (I believe it is), a new SSX game was announced and it was originally called SSX: Deadly Descents. Some people thought it would ruin what the whole series was all about but a year later, the surname was dropped and it was just called SSX. It's basically a reboot which would be after the first 3 SSX titles. (SSX, SSX Tricky, SSX3). This isn't some ordinary SSX title. You take on real mountains like the Himalayas, Mt. Kilamanjaro, Everest, even places in Siberia as well as Alaska. (Mt. Fuji if you have the PS3 port) A lot of the old characters from SSX are back in this game so if you like Mac, Zoe or even Kaori, they're in this game. Even characters like Moby and Elise are back. I consider this SSX to be a large improvement over any of the past SSX titles. It's not cartoony-looking like the Nintendo exclusive SSX Blur, there's no skiing like they included in SSX On Tour. It's pure snowboarding fun like the first 3 SSX games before this one. Even though Tricky is still a great title and SSX3 was great, this one dominates. Speaking of Tricky, Uber tricks which were introduced in SSX Tricky are back and they look great. Better than ever actually. Another Tricky feature is RUN DMC's "It's Tricky" but a dubstep remix by Pretty Lights. It's a cool sound but some people prefer the original one. Speaking of dubstep, there's a few songs in this game that are dubstep. There's 3 play modes in the world tour which are Race It, Trick It, and Survive it. Survive It has to have some of the hardest runs in this game. Either by using an oxygen tank, armor and/or a wingsuit, you won't be able to survive it on your own. Even escaping avalanches. I think EA really did a great job with SSX and it was exactly what I was looking for.
