StarCraft: Brood War review

User Rating: 9 | Starcraft: Brood War PC

G’day everyone what is going on its CoGTidyQuotient, and today we are doing a game review on the first StarCraft© game. This game is made on March 31 in 1998, I will be playing the Brood War© expansion, (Not just because it’s my favourite) I will be playing the game and telling the back-story as I go along. I am on a time limit today so this will be shorter than most. Anyway that’s enough of all mouth and no trousers for now, lets play this game,

StarCraft© is a moba (Multiplayer-Online-Battle-Arena) game were ‘The Great War’ started on December 12, 2499. ‘Brood War’ however started in 2500 when the Zerg© capture ‘Kerrigan’ and turn her into a zerg and she becomes known as the ‘Queen of Blades’ (her backstory is very sad I recommend you read it though) the campaign goes that Jim Raynor, a Terran protagonist is trying to save Kerrigan and turn her into a human again “hit ‘em hard and fast”

-Jim Raynor.

Tassadar, a Protoss protagonist is trying to stop the Zerg from destroying the universe while protecting the Terran "My friends, this is our final hour. Not all of us may survive the coming conflict. Yet, death may be a blessing should we fail here. We seek now to destroy a foe that has ravaged its way across the universe consuming all in its path. And now it has reached the end of its long journey. The Overmind has come to destroy all that we hold dear and assimilate us into itself. And I say to thee, this shall not come to pass! Aiur shall not fall! Executor, I stand ready!" –Tassadar.

Zerg however have had 4 different leaders throughout the war; Overmind, Second Overmind, Sarah Kerrigan and Zagara. The Zerg is a biologically advanced, arthropod alien species, that destroy everything in their way. A fallen Xel’Naga (a highly advanced race) found the first Zerg, intervened with the Zerg development and gifted them with purity of essence, making them the counterpart of the Protoss race.

eventually Terran and Protoss team up and take on the Zerg together. Ok so I am going to play a custom game with 2 opponents. 1 Zerg© and 1 Terran©, I will play as Protoss© (it is my favourite race) and go against Terran© and Zerg©. So at every start of the game you will spawn at the corner unless there is more than 4 players. So the pros about this game are that it is addictive (highly), it encourages people to think about the best strategy to use in the currant situation, it doesn’t use much space (7GB), It is the #1 most played game in Korea they hold huge competitions which can be watched live on Twitch, all versions are free to play across all PC platforms. The cons for the Brood War© expansion are that the graphics aren’t to the best quality (they were in 1998 though), every version of the game has its own content so you need to play them all and see which ones have your favourite content in it. that’s really all the cons that I know so far for Brood War , if you know any more then comment it and let me know. I will play all races and say there pros and cons as well. I give this game a 9 out of 10, the gameplay is great, but the graphics really put it off, it makes it a little bit hard to see what’s going on. The campaign is really good and long so its great to play. I personally think it will make a great movie with what goes on, the story line is one of the best that I have played. If you have a PC or Mac I recommend that you download this game, I can almost guarantee that you wont regret it, my stepbrother didn’t when I showed him it. It is made by Blizzard Entertainment©; the same company that made Diablo©, World of War Craft©, Hearthstone©, Heroes of the Storm©, Overwatch© and the entire version for all those games, So if you like any of those then you will like StarCraft©. The sounds of StarCraft© are quite realistic considering how far in the future it is based on. If you where a headset that blocks out outside sound then if you close your eyes while spectating then you will feel like you are there. The controls for it are relatively simple but the game focuses more on strategy than controls. StarCraft is a game that I highly recommend you play. This is CoGTidyQuotient signing off cya.
