Great classic, still addictive!
The system requirements were low and playing online worked perfectly fine even with dial up. What more could you ask for?
When you thought that was it, the expansion Brood War was released to knock your socks off. With even more awesome characters and an addictive story, this created a cult following that even paved the way for books to be published for the series.
Brood War has been one of the more balanced games released with 3 different races to choose from. It kept you busy fighting off the zerg rush, destroying your enemy's additional pylons, or having your detector search around like a decapitated chicken after hearing that nuclear launch.
The game is still active to this day and has users creating hacked maps to test all the limits of the game, or inventing new mini-games to play.
No wonder Starcraft and it's expansion Brood War has survived over the years and became one of the best selling PC games of all time. If you find the Starcraft Battle Chest in a store for a cheap price, give it a try, you won't be disappointed.
