A really good Party game to have for the Gamecube.

User Rating: 8 | Super Monkey Ball GC
Super Monkey Ball certainly isn't a normal looking game. You would think a game about Monkeys in balls would be boring and stupid. The game isn't any of that at all. Okay, it may be a little stupid at heart but that's not necessarily a bad thing. It isn't boring though that's for sure.

Gameplay, 8. There are actually nine different modes for this game and they are divided into three different areas: Main Game, Party Games, and Mini-Games. Main Game's modes are Normal game, Practice Mode, and Competition. Normal Game is where you and up to three other players take turns getting your monkey in a ball across a floor by tilting it. There are three difficulties to start with: Beginner, Advanced, and Expert. Each has a different amount of floors and differ on how hard they are. Practice Mode is where you can play any floor you've played as many times as you like. Competition is where 2-4 players race across floors at the same time unlike in Normal Game where it is turn-based.
Party Games has three different modes: Monkey Fight, Monkey Race, and Monkey Target. Monkey Fight is where 4 players roll around a small course with a boxing glove on their front and you use it to push your opponents on the cliff. There are different items to help you out. Whoever has the most points ins the match. You can do 1-5 matches and whoever has the most total points from all the matches wins. Monkey Race is where 4 players race across a track. There are items to help you out like in Monkey Fight. You can play a single race, do time trial, or play a grand prix. Monkey Target is wher you glide across a body of water after rolling off a huge ramp and land on the target and where you land determines the amount of points you earn.
Mini-Games has three games: Monkey Billiards, Monkey Bowling, and Monkey Golf. I don't think I need to go into the specifics of these modes as they aren't really that different from normal billiards, Bowling, and Golf other than the fact that there are monkeys in the balls.
The game is quite enjoyable. Each mode is pretty easy to have a good time with. While you probably won't spend most of your time with the mini-games if you're not a fan of the sports they have, but you are likely to enjoy the Main Game and Party Games.

Graphics, 9. The graphics are very good for this early in the Gamecube's life time. Lots of detail in the characters. The backgrounds simply look amazing. In 2001 I'm not sure if you could fine a game on the Gamecube with better looking graphics.

Sound, 8. The sound is pretty good. Although lots of it does sound similar the music is pretty good. There isn't any dialogue other than the yelps the monkeys make. The sound effects are pretty nice.

Value, 10. This game will definitley last you a long time. Completing the Normal Mode on all difficulties and each floor is quite a challenge as some of them are radically hard. I'm serious, some of these floors will make you question whether or not they're even possible to complete.

Difficulty, Hard. The game gets quite hard after you beat Beginner. From Advanced onward the game gets challenging. The rest of the modes shouldn't be too hard to play though.

Tilt, 7. I generally liked this game even though I'm not that big of a Party game fan. If you're a Party game fan and you have a Gamecube or a Wii then I would seriously recommend Super Money Ball to you.
