Tactics Ogre, a remake of the original game first released by Quest, is a fantasy turn-based strategy game. Before you get too excited, let me warn you, It's hard. Really hard. The training fails to cover how in depth this game is going to go. And, if you have played a game similar to this, I'm sure this game will be most exciting. But, newcomers to the genre will quickly be overwhelmed when you get to the meat of the game. Understanding the leveling up and creation of your army is simple enough until you reach the end of the second act. Where, combined with the situation, makes building up new classes miserable. It's at this point that the game starts to get out of hand. Facing armies much larger than you, tougher than you, on a better terrain than you, is nerve-wracking. Trying to win these battles is even worse. To make battles even more frustrating, you have to watch every single character take its turn. No skipping ahead to your next move. Once you have put in the time of watching every single turn made, losing the battle can drive you crazy, especially by the 3rd time. Don't get me wrong, the game itself is masterfully made. I can imagine it is a boon to the die-hard fans of this genre, the masterful story and the depth of this army leading game is a wonderful experience. It's just too hard for a new player (like myself) to dig into.
