Pros:
- Animations
- Graphics
- Gore
- Really weird
- Unique, disgusting monsters
- Some unique concepts in the narrative (although they were never fleshed out as much as I wanted them to be)
- Physics
Cons:
- Clunky movement
- Doors open either really super slow or way too loud
- Inventory system
- Removes syringes from favorites when they run out
- Awkward to pause and navigate
- Some less than thrilling (and really tough) boss battles
- (I’m thinking specifically of the goofy ass dog thing)
- Some really freaking hard chapters (in a bad way)
- (Chapter 6 in particular almost made me give up on the game. Even after lowering the difficulty, there were still tough areas.)
- Too many instant death traps
- (This would have been fine if there was a quicksave feature, but with the checkpoint/save system, it got really annoying)
- Protagonist is really bland
- Story feels like an afterthought. It seems like it is only there to allow for any creepy environment/monster imaginable, but this sort of took away the game’s heart
Rating:
- Story *** 3/10
- Gameplay **** 4/10
- Atmosphere ****** 6/10
- Overall **** 4/10
