So i got The Order: 1886 off Gamefly, and my thoughts after playing through the campaign is that there is a decent structure in place.
First off the visuals are truly stunning, with gorgeous lighting, and particle effects that are so detailed it is definitely the best looking game on any console as of now. Also the switch between cut-scene is very small, it is truly a pleasurable game to play from a visual standpoint.
The gameplay is more of what you would expect from 3rd person shooter, and is mechanically sound. Gunplay feels nice and there is a good enough variety of weapons to choose from, its just unfortunate that the most interesting and unique are limited in their use and appearance throughout the game. the cover mechanics are serviceable but nothing great compared to games like Gears of War. There is definitely a good system in place to build upon in terms of gameplay.
Now the story was pretty good overall, and i found myself enjoying it throughout, the pacing can be inconsistent at times though. I just wish that the the whole Lycan aspect of the story was more played out and got more attention, instead of being more of a back drop.
The Order: 1886 was a fun game with a pretty good story that could definitely be expanded upon in the future and featured solid gameplay mechanics. Unfortunately their are no other modes or things to do to extend the good gameplay, and i feel like the framework is in place to make a great sequel, if and when they decide to do so.
