Game really is hard to get into due to the lack of time spent on the "frame" of the game

I bought this game recently and have been playing it steadily for a few months without really knowing if I liked it or not. I spent some time messing around in the traditional game modes and had some fun playing with the pros but its when you create your own golfer and take him through a career that things get messy.

You start off with low skills and it offers you ways to increase them (training, mini games, and pga championships). Training is tedious and you will spent countless hours playing closest to the pin for little reward in your skills, however slowly but surely you will get there and start to have a fighting chance in the tournaments. On the side of your event calender you will have an opportunity to take on tiger in a showdown by slowly winning mini games and beating pros one on one on 9 holes of golf. I found the mini games to be a nice break from stroke play and had some fun messing around on a course with my created golfer. One thing I did enjoy is the pro shop where you can fully outfit your golfer and equip him with the best clubs, shafts, grips, gloves you can afford which will also help increase his skills.

As for the gameplay it really takes the fun right out of whats supposed to be the main part in the game. The analog swing is broken, plain and simple..people say it takes getting used to but I found that the "perfect swing" is actually straight back and a little degrees to the left which causes lots of frustration as the slicing in the game is a little too over the top and constant. The alternative 3 click swing is another option however I had very little luck (as well as interest) in trying it and found myself way left or way right as the meter moves way too fast but maybe someone will have better luck then me.

Graphics are good, but could be better as I dont understand why they arent when theres really not much motion that needs to be captured on a golf course but still nothing to complain about. The audio is nice on the courses but the commentary is just downright awlful, the only thing I like listening to is them commenting on the past events such as (usually a good pitcher he should be okay with this one) nice to know it has a sort of memory to it.

Ea Sports puts a hefty price tag on these games and there really is a small number of golfers for the regular price of these games. I picked this game up for $24.99 so I would say I got my money worth and would reccommend this game for someone who just wants to have some fun and tee off some balls on their tv set.
