A real fun golf game with lots of customations, but sadly the long load times get in the way

User Rating: 8.5 | Tiger Woods PGA Tour PSP
Tiger Woods comes to the PSP as a launch title and right away it knocks the socks off of the DS version because the graphics are a lot better than the block textures from the DS version. The career mode is deep as is the character creation but both of these things are bogged down by long load times and bad controls. Tiger Woods on the PSP controls just like it does on the consoles, where you use the analog stick to swing. This works great on the consoles but since the PSP has more of a nub than an actual stick the swing mechanics take a long time to get used to and even after you get a pretty good hang of them they can still let you down sometimes. Take it from me, I went from first place to one hundredth in one turn because the analog stick went all screwy on me. Not very much fun, especially when the purse is two million dollars. Now onto the load times. The load times are almost unbearable as it can sometimes take fifteen seconds just to get to a new screen. This is very upsetting because the EA Game Face is very in depth, but I really don't have the patience to wait ten seconds every time that I want to make one little change to my golfer, this like I said before is very, very upsetting. The sound department is average or mediocre at best. There isn't any real EA Trax just a bunch of generic sounding music. This disappointed me as well because I thought that Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2004 has one of the best in game soundtracks that I have ever heard next to the GTA franchise. There are commentators but honestly you are not missing anything if you have the volume turned all the way down. Graphically speaking this game looks very good and it most definitely puts the DS version to shame. The character models look pretty great it is just a shame that long load times get in the way of making a truly unique player to play with. There are lots of other golfers in this game too and they look really good as well. Tiger Woods on the PSP has a lot of things going for it than the DS version does, unfortunately the DS version also has some things going for it that the PSP version doesn't have. So it's ultimately up to you, do you want better graphics and great character customization? Then go with the PSP version. Or do you want better swing mechanics and little to no loading times than? If that is what you want than go with the DS version
