Tiny Wings may be another bird-related game on iOS, but it stands up as a fun and simple platformer.
In Tiny Wings, you play as a bird who has wings, but just can't fly yet. Luckily, the world he lives in is full of hills, so you must go out and fulfill his dreams. But you have until night before you suddenly drop to the floor, asleep.
Controls and simple and responsive: on ground, press down to gain momentum and release just as you reach the hill, in midair, press down to sink back to earth.
You collect coins and speed coins that will up your speed, and you are awarded with points when you cleanly slide through a hill and when you touch the clouds. At the end of each island is a long slope lined with coins (that you'll most likely miss) that launches you to another island, as well as reversing time quite a bit. It feels rewarding to make it to another island, and each island has a unique design to it, which gets it a few points. The music fits well into the Tiny Wings concept.
Finishing certain objectives will up your score multiplier, so you can be the top of the leaderboards. This game has Game Center integration, so try climbing up the boards.
Overall, Tiny Wings is an amazing package for just a single dollar. The game might not win dozens of Game of the Year awards, but Tiny Wings offers enough to be a great pick-up and play game, and the objectives and leaderboards can appeal to those willing to invest a little time into the game.
